The Single Biggest Reason Food Trucks Fail Their First Inspection

Nine out of ten brand-new food trucks drop to 3 or 4 stars on their first ever inspection for the exact same reason: no opening/closing checks recorded for the first 4–6 weeks of trading.

Councils know new traders are busy building the business and often “forget” the paperwork. They wait six weeks, then visit. No records = instant major non-compliance.

The fix is stupidly simple: set up a five-item opening checklist and a five-item closing checklist in the app on day one. Takes 30 seconds morning and night. When the officer eventually arrives, you hand over six weeks of perfect records and watch them run out of things to write up.

Do it from week one and your first inspection is boring instead of terrifying.
